NORTH SEALAND

A tour to North Sealand may take you to several royal castles, some marvelous museums or just let you enjoy the scenery along the coast and forests. North Sealand has it all.
On the coast from Copenhagen to Elsinore you will find some of the most extravagant villas and mansions in Denmark. Several museums on the way will tempt you to make a stop. You may also visit Elsinore itself, as it is a historic commercial centre and has a monastery and some of the oldest houses and streets in Denmark.
ROYAL TALES AND CASTLES
Historically, Danish kings would travel north of Copenhagen to their fantastic castles and large hunting grounds in North Sealand.
The monumental Kronborg Castle is the setting which Shakespeare chose for his play Hamlet. Visit the castle and let your guide describe life at the royal court, the wild and sumptuous parties organized for the good and great of Europe.
Then, you may pass by the baroque style Fredensborg Palace, where Queen Margrethe II and her family stay for most of the summer. Enjoy the scenery shaped by royal history – today an undulating landscape of farmland and woods.
Finally, in the town of Hillerød, Frederiksborg Castle, in renaissance style reveals true royal splendor. On the tour around its chambers and halls, your guide can tell you more about the hundreds of treasures on exhibit.
